A Day in the Life of Paper Trail

 

A chara, I hope you and yours are well.

The team at Victims and Survivors Service asked the charities to develop an article, blog or the like to showcase the work we do. I created a short ‘Day in the Life’ vlog regarding my recent trip to the National Archives in London a couple of Saturdays ago.

It was another successful trip for families fighting for truth and justice, and also a useful exercise, as it forced me to think about how to measure what I do during these research trips. On my first trip many moons ago, I photographed just over 400 files per day, whilst I hit over 4K now without breaking a sweat.

As Paper Trail has a tight budget, a single day could take a working week of prep and then two working weeks to study the tranche of information I retrieve.

This is, of course, laborious and painstaking work – albeit invaluable for our families – so just in case you thought it was all glitz and glamour, here is:
