Sinn Fein on hiring/rehiring PSNI Officers
Press Release from Sinn Fein 2/10/2012 Audit Office report should signal end of retiring/rehiring – Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin spokesperson on Policing Gerry Kelly commenting on the imminent publication of the Audit Office Report into the retire and rehire policy within the PSNI said: “There is no place for an old boys’ network in the new beginning to policing. Large numbers retired with handsome severance packages so as to enable the creation of a policing service, which is fully representative of society.
“Some within the PSNI have been in denial about the implications of retiring and rehiring for the subversion of Patten and public confidence in policing. This needs to end. “Evidence to substantiate widespread concerns was given to the Audit Office. The Audit Office report is now imminent. We will study their findings in detail and it is our hope that it will provide the basis for the PSNI to move forward without resort to this negative practice.” CRÍOCH/ENDS
