Saturday Commemoration in Philadelphia
Our past Saturday commemoration turned out so well. The mass in the beautiful Old St Patrick’s Church was celebrated by Father Joe Mele and there were so many members of not only the IAUC but several Pittsburgh Irish groups that volunteered to help. From assisting Father Joe, to ushering and carrying the gifts, to doing so many other tasks. The ten portraits of the men who died in 1981 were carried into church and placed along the altar rail. Jim Lamb, President of the Ireland Institute and a great musician provided music at mass and at Roland’s. Our piper played outside the church and processed us afterwards to Roland’s. Ciaran Quinn of Sinn Féin and Greg O’Laughlin of FOSF spoke about the past, present and what Irish Americans can do to push forward unification.
