Irish Unity People’s Assembly 2025

IAUC members (l-r) Kevin Barry, John Guttman, Ellen Marie Hess, Martin Goff, Chris Shields, and President Peter Kissel with John Finucane, center.

The IAUC was well represented at the Irish Unity People’s Assembly held in Washington on January 27. Peter Kissel, Kevin Barry, Martin Goff, John Guttman, Ellen Marie Hess, Chris Shields, and Alyssa Ford heard John Finucane, MLA, stress the importance of Irish America in advancing the demand for a border poll.

Ciarán Quinn, Sinn Fein Representative to North America, spoke eloquently that we are in a time where “opportunity meets activism” meaning we are now at the stage where we can envisage a United Ireland within our lifetime, but this opportunity requires collective activism. IAUC will continue to work tirelessly to meet this opportunity!

The evening also included round table discussions among Irish American activists on how to advocate for unity. The IAUC thanks LiUNA for hosting and the Commission on the Future of Ireland for sponsoring the event.
