Action Alert: Help Raymond McCord Expose the Truth

Raymond McCord has fought a 12-year struggle for justice following the murder of his son Raymond, Jr. by the loyalist paramilitary group the UVF in 1997. The man who ordered the killing has since been exposed as a paid Government agent and informer, and the British security services continue to protect him and to cover up the truth behind Raymond Jr.’s murder.

On a recent visit to Washington, DC sponsored by the Irish National Caucus, Raymond said: “Since Raymond Jr. was murdered, I have encountered stonewalling and obstruction from the British Government and Northern Ireland police. I can only turn for justice to Fr. Mc Manus and his many friends in Congress. He has assured me that the US Congress will fight for my rights as hard as they have fought for the rights of Catholics in Northern Ireland”.

What You Can Do:

1. Encourage members of Congress to co-sign a “Dear Colleague Letter” to Prime Minister Gordon Brown urging him to personally meet with Raymond McCord Sr. The letter is currently circulating form the offices of several members of Congress.

2. Encourage a Congressional Hearing before the House Human Rights Subcommittee, Chaired by Rep. Bill Delahutn (D-MA). Democratic members are: Russ Carnahan (D-MO), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Don Payne (D-NJ),Robert Wexler (D-FL). Republican members are: Ron Paul (R-TX), Ted Poe (R-TX).

3. Encourage a Congressional Resolution calling on the British
Government to hold an Independent Public Inquiry into the murder of Raymond McCord Jr. and subsequent cover-up.
