IAUC Statement On Storming Of Us Capitol

The Irish American Unity Conference works for peace, justice, and democracy in the North of Ireland, and is committed to the same values in our own country, the United States of America. The events that occurred January 6, 2021 at the United States Capitol building are a disgrace and we condemn them in the strongest terms. We recognize that the US cannot advocate credibly for democracy, justice, and peace in other countries when our President, some legislators, and fellow citizens betray fundamental values of American Democracy. Please be assured that we will continue to fight for human dignity in Ireland and in America notwithstanding the reckless behavior of the worst elements in our society.
