Action Alert: Email US Army–No Afghan Contract for Spicer!
From the Pat Finucane Centre
The US army in Afghanistan is seeking tenders for an Armed Contractor Oversight Directorate” to track private security companies (PSCs) — and monitor how often they resort to force. There is speculation that British mercenary company Aegis may seek the contract. See link to WIRED below. The CEO of Aegis, Tim Spicer, has misrepresentated the circumstances surrounding the murder of Peter Mc Bride by soldiers under his command while an Scots Guards officer in Belfast in 1992. He has sought to justify the murder of an unarmed 18 civilian.

Contact the US army and urge them not to consider Spicer for the contract. Remind them of the statement from then Senator, now President-elect Barack Obama:
…As you know, the CEO of Aegis Defense Services Tim Spicer has been implicated in a variety of human rights abuses around the globe. Given his history, I agree that the United States should consider rescinding its contract with his company.
Barack Obama, US Senator
