SUGGESTED SCRIPT FOR PROTEST CALLS TO BRITISH CONSULATES OVER DEMAND FOR BOSTON COLLEGE RECORDS

HELLO, MY NAME IS __________________ AND I LIVE IN_______________________.  MAY I SPEAK WITH SOMEONE TO WHOM I MIGHT REGISTER A PROTEST?  [PAUSE WHILE RECEPTIONIST CONNECTS]  I WISH TO PROTEST THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT’S DEMAND FOR RECORDS HELD IN THE IRISH ARCHIVES OF BOSTON COLLEGE.  THE RECORDS ARE PART OF AN ORAL HISTORY PROJECT CONDUCTED UNDER A CONFIDENTIALLY AGREEMENT.  THIS REQUEST FOR THESE RECORDS ON BEHALF OF THE ROYAL ULSTER CONSTABULARY IS AN ABUSE OF THE MUTUAL LEGAL ASSISTANCE TREATY (MLAT) WITH THE U. S.  THIS ACTION ALONG WITH THE FAILURE TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC INQUIRY IN TO THE ASASSINATION OF PATRICK FINUCANE, THE SLOWDOWN AND CORRUPTION OF THE HISTORICAL ENQUIRIES TEAM (HET) INVESTIGATING THE MURDERS OF CATHOLICS, AND THE REFUSAL TO DISCLOSE INFORMATION REQUESTED BY IRELAND ON THE DUBLIN/MONAGHAN BOMBINGS ALL POINT TO A SYSTEMATIC EFFORT TO UNDERMINE THE IRISH PEACE PROCESS.   PLEASE WITHDRAW THIS REQUEST.  THANK YOU.
